Take 5: Secret Weapons

Are you ready for SunFest 2016?! Today is the day, and I could not be more excited.

Helping us celebrate the best year yet is Brooklyn’s synthpop duo Secret Weapons. While their name is elusive, their sound shouldn’t be. Gerry Lange and Danny create some insanely sweet ear candy, that will sit well with fans of Capital Cities and Atlas Genius (who just accompanied them on tour).

Before their SunFest debut, we had a chance to catch up with the talented singers about their tour essentials and what we can expect to hear today:

You just wrapped up touring with Atlas Genius and performing with Panic! at the Disco. How were both of those experiences?

Gerry: The tours were incredible. It’s always an honor to to be on the road with bands you admire, and getting to watch both every night was a dream come true.

What’s your “guilty pleasure” travel you have to have with you while touring?

Gerry: Almond butter

Danny: Kombucha

What can new and old fans expect to see and hear from you at SunFest?

Danny: We’re gonna be playing a lot of new songs that we’ve never played before. As an opener we’ve only had 25 minute sets, but with a full hour we’re so excited to bring the audience deeper into so much other music we’ve been working on over the last few months.

If you’re stranded on a deserted island but have the opportunity to take three things with you, what would they be and why? (Food/water is supplied).

Both: Almond butter, Kombucha, and a lighter?

What does the rest of 2016 hold for you guys?

Gerry: We’re going to be on the road non-stop and finishing our album. We’ve also got a bunch of other festival dates planned and some special surprises in the works.

Catch Secret Weapons on the Ford Stage tonight at 7 p.m.
