Wednesday Headliner: Snoop Dogg

Today is the day! SunFest gates open this afternoon and so begins five days of sheer joy. Tonight, the legendary Snoop Dogg will take the Tire Kingdom Stage. I’ll have an in-depth review later, but here are just the fastest of facts:

Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr. is better known as Snoop, Snoop Doggy Dogg, and Snoop Lion. Since his career kicked off in 1992, Snoop has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide. You can probably sing along to most of his songs off his first album, Doggystyle, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 AND Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop charts. Doggystyle sold a million copies in the first week, and is responsible for the hits, “What’s My Name?” “Gin & Juice,” and “Lodi Dodi.”

To date, Snoop has released 14 studio albums, four collaborative albums, 17 compilation albums, twenty mixtapes, and 127 singles. 127, people! He has been nominated for 17 Grammy Awards and recently launched his own media platform– Merry Jane.

I love Snoop for his pop culture contributions, as well as his timeless sounds. I will never tire of his hilarious dub over nature scenes on Jimmy Kimmel, and his endearing friendship with Martha Stewart.

I’ll see you at the Tire Kingdom Stage tonight!
