Packing For SunFest: What To Bring

SUNFEST5Hello Sunfest fans! I hope you’re excited for another fantastic festival in the sun and by the sea. We are hours away from the gates opening!

As a loyal SunFest veteran, and music festival lover, I know how important it is to pack the perfect bag for your music adventure. This year, we have a few tips about what to bring (and what to leave at home) for the perfect festival experience.

First, know your dimensions. SunFest allows you to bring in purses or small bags no bigger than 12” x 12” x 6”.

Next, make sure you pack your SunFest tickets, ID (especially important if you are over 21), and cash. Most everywhere at SunFest accepts major credit cards, but you still need to be able to tip your bartenders!

Grab your phone, and consider storing it in a plastic bag, to safeguard it from spills, unpredictable weather, and sweat. Also grab your phone charger, as there are charging stations around Flagler Drive. There is one near the water by the Tire Kingdom Stage. This will allow you to juice your phone around 6 p.m. on Saturday, so you can find your friends before Fall Out Boy.

Speaking of phones, before the gates open, make sure you download SunFest’s app, powered by Ford. It helps you keep the schedule handy, and helps you find food, the nearest ATM, and restrooms.

Now, this fantastic festival is called SUNFest for a reason! Don’t end up looking like a lobster after just one day. Grab your favorite pair of sunnies, sunscreen, chapstick, and a floppy hat or baseball cap to save your skin.

Umbrellas are allowed at SunFest, but I’d like to personally recommend packing a poncho. It’s easier to carry, leaves your hands free in the event of any weather, and, most importantly, doesn’t block anyone’s view of the stage.

Ladies, consider bringing a headband and hair ties, to keep your mane under control throughout the day. Personally, I also love to pack a bandana. I have about a million or so in my music festival arsenal, because they are versatile and easy to carry. Use it as a headband, a sweatband, or spread it out on the grass to avoid grass stains on your back pockets.

One fun item that’s making a splash at festivals across the world right now are colorful and shiny temporary tattoos. Variety packs are available for cheap online and easy to apply and remove. Treat yourself to a few!

Throw your favorite koozie into your bag, to keep your drink cold in our Florida sun.

Grab some earplugs so you can still hear the headliners in 30 years.

Make a little baggie of Advil and other personal items that you may need throughout the day. If you forget these essential items one of the days, don’t fret! SunFest has merchandise booths and information centers that can help.

The final items you need are your favorite festival shoes, an excellent attitude, and an appetite! You’re ready for the best festival in Florida (and arguably, the world). I will see you on Wednesday! Get ready!
