Giving Back to the Community Year Round

sunfest365-logoSunFest 365 serves the community year-round. The mission is to reach out to the community with projects that promote or enhance culture and the arts, youth education, assistance for other nonprofit organizations and the environment. Whether restoring housing for low-income families or providing college scholarship money to a musically gifted teen, SunFest is ready to give back.

As a nonprofit organization itself, SunFest’s financial goal is to break even each year. If any proceeds are realized, the money goes toward improvements for the following year’s festival, replenishment of any depleted rain funds and community outreach programs. Many of these programs are made possible through grants from the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs.

College Scholarships

Over the past ten years, SunFest has awarded $40,000 in college scholarships to high school seniors in the areas of visual arts, instrumental music and choral music. Through The Palm Beach Post’s Pathfinders Awards Program, the student receives $1,000 a year for four years.

For the SunFest Music Scholarship, the applicant must plan to major or minor in music, have an overall grade point average of 2.5, be nominated by their high school, submit a completed application package to The Palm Beach Post and participate in the Pathfinder interview process.

Helping Neighbors

Each year, SunFest contributes  complimentary tickets to area charities, schools, synagogues and other organizations for distribution to individuals who otherwise would not be able to attend the festival. Since the inception of the Helping Neighbors program, SunFest has given away tickets to underserved populations. Interested organizations should download  Helping Neighbors 2014 application, paying close attention to eligibility requirements and instructions. Non-profit Fundraising

Over the past ten years, SunFest has helped local nonprofit organizations raise more than $800,000 for their causes. These groups recruit their own volunteers to operate beverage tents during the festival.  Click here to read more about how SunFest is helping these groups with their efforts.  If your group is interested, contact Dan Goode at 561-837-8067 or dgoode at sunfest.com.
