Countdown to SunFest ’22 is ON

City of West Palm Beach to Host Mini Music Fest as Part of Countdown to SunFest ’22

The second in a series of four Clematis By Night concerts features past SunFest ‘Battle of the Bands’ winners

Three South Florida-born bands will return to the West Palm Beach waterfront in honor of Clematis by Night’s (CBN) Countdown to SunFest ’22 campaign. The “Mini Music Fest” will feature two past SunFest Battle of the Bands winners:  Citizen Badger (2019) and Chemradery (2017). In April of 2021, the City of West Palm Beach kicked off the one-year countdown for SunFest, and this will be the second in a series of four CBN concerts to build enthusiasm for the return of the iconic music festival.

The event will be held on Thursday, September 23, from 6 – 10 p.m. on the Great Lawn (100 N. Clematis St.) and will feature singer/songwriter Tabitha Meeks between sets. In addition to live music, the Mini Music Fest will include large-scale lawn games, craft beer selections, selfie stations, SunFest trivia and giveaways, and more. General attendance is free, though limited tickets are available for TheClubVIP.

“We are so excited for the return of SunFest to our downtown waterfront and hope to see everyone at any of our Mini Music Fest concerts,” said Mayor Keith A. James. “Clematis by Night is one of our fan-favorite, legacy events and there is no better place to experience live entertainment than right here in West Palm Beach!”

The event will also honor all SunFest volunteers with a special ‘thank you.’ These volunteers are asked to show their SunFest spirit by wearing one of their past festival T-shirts, and the first 400 individuals to arrive will receive a specially-created swag bag.

“The first CBN’s Countdown to SunFest ’22 was a great success, and it was wonderful to see our fans after a two year pause due to the pandemic,” said Paul Jamieson, executive director of SunFest. “This Mini Music fest is a special moment to celebrate our SunFest volunteers and all they do for us, because without them, SunFest would not be possible. We look forward to building on everyone’s enthusiasm with an expanded Clematis by Night experience, this time featuring three bands and an event extended by an hour.”

The band lineup is:

The band draws influences from Father John Misty, Bruno Mars, Mouse Rat, Bo Burnham, Twenty One Pilots, and The Flaming Lips.

Nashville-based Tabitha Meeks is a singer/songwriter with a unique blend of folk and jazz. Her Norah Jones-style of singing and masterful piano improvisational skills, combined with her songwriting reminiscent of Randy Newman and Carole King, create a fun and timeless sound.

Chemradery, led by singer Gray Scot, came about when innovative minds merged their passion for music to create a sound that would inspire and leave a lasting impression on themselves and the listener.
