LovelyTheBand: SXSW to South Florida

It should be no surprise that SXSW is my Super Bowl. I joke year-round that I’m “training” for marathon music madness by staying up till an ungodly hour, running in kitten heels, and eating Hoboken Pie pizza at every opportunity. SXSW is a truly remarkable, all-encompassing conference. This year was my fifth SXSW and I like to think I’m getting better and better at navigating the experience.

Falling in March, SXSW often draws both new blood and big names. I was delighted to see SunFest’s Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats playing multiple Austin shows, including Pandora’s showcase. We’ll have more words for him soon.

What I want to share today is Los Angeles’ lovelytheband. Ahead of our own West Palm Beach festival, I was able to see this talented trio at StubHub’s incredible two-day SXSW showcase at Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden. It was there that Mitchy Collins (vocals), Jordan Greenwald (guitar), and Sam Price (drums) played before a packed patio. I was impressed by their polished sound and stage presence, especially during the chaos of SXSW.

Lovelytheband debuted in July 2017 with their single “Broken,” an addictive, dark indie-pop gem. Their debut EP was shared in September. While they sole and smashed hearts in Austin, many other ears around the world are tuning into this blossoming act. Their single “Broken” has more than 8 million streams on Spotify.

This talented trio has drawn comparisons to many bands we love, including MGMT, Coast Modern, and Youngblood Hawke. If you love and know fellow SunFest act Dreamers, you need to pin lovelytheband to your schedule as well. Don’t miss them on Sunday, May 6 on the Tire Kingdom Stage
