Spotlight: Ford’s Al Young and the Blue Lounge

I have been attending SunFest since I was in a stroller, and during that time some names have become synonymous with South Florida’s greatest music festival. Take for instance, South Florida Ford’s Allan “Al” Young.

Young has been involved with SunFest since the festival’s quaint roots as a local art and music show. Now, as the Operating Partner of Wayne Akers Ford and Chairman of the Board for the South Florida Ford Dealers, Young has a heavy hand in engaging SunFest’s fans in new ways.

“I’m excited about this year and I’m the excitable-type anyways,” Young shared this weekend. “We have revamped what Ford has done at SunFest. We’re evolving!”

Of course it’s impossible to miss the Ford Stage, the largest SunFest stage at the north end of the fest, but there are other activities for attendees to note.

The SunFest App, powered by Ford, offers opportunities for ticket upgrades and daily giveaway winners. Available only inside the app is the Ford Photo Hunt, which prompts sun-kissed attendees to snap photos for a chance to win additional ticket upgrades.

The biggest addition though is the Ford Blue Lounge, located at the corner of Fern and Flager. Each day, the cool, blue lounge has giveaways, games, and music. Steal a seat in the shade and catch budding artists up close.

Here is the Sunday Ford Blue Lounge Schedule:

  • Noon – 1 p.m. Ford Emcee
  • 1 – 2 p.m. Joseph Notto
  • 3 – 5 p.m. Nicole Chirino & Band
  • 5 – 6 p.m. Elemeno Beat
  • 6 – 9 p.m. Ford Emcee
