Call for Local Artist
Offers Fresh Local Artists the Chance to perform at SunFest 2023; Applications Accepted Until January 13, 2023
SunFest is inviting local bands to join the lineup for the festival’s 39th year along downtown West Palm Beach’s picturesque waterfront. Back again in 2023 with three days of music and friendship, SunFest will run from May 5 through 7.
The sunny festival known for its connection to the community is partnering with local nonprofit 1909 to seek out South Florida bands to play original material alongside national acts in 2023.
“The growth of Palm Beach County is palpable right now and it’s so important to keep our local creative talent and values at the forefront,” Shana Ostrovitz, Executive Director of 1909. “We are grateful to have SunFest as a strong partner willing to take actions with us to make sure our local musicians get an opportunity at the biggest stage we have.”
Volunteers from the SunFest Entertainment Committee and 1909 will work together to review applications and extend offers to select groups. The Fresh Local Artists (FLA) selected will have the opportunity to perform at SunFest 2023 and a few lucky artists could headline for bigger evening entertainers. Bands that reside in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami/Dade, Martin and St Lucie Counties will be considered. The deadline for submission is January 13, 2023.
“Bringing SunFest back to our fans last May after a two-year hiatus was like getting the band back together,” said Paul Jamieson, SunFest executive director. “Every facet of SunFest includes our community — from our volunteers, police officers and those who produce and operate SunFest, to the artists, food vendors and performers at SunFest. We are so proud to be able to offer our neighbors the opportunity to perform and be involved with SunFest 2023. It is an honor to give these Fresh Local Artists a platform to do what they love and entertain the community that we love.”

As always, a village of volunteers will again produce the event. Nearly 2,400 volunteers worked more shifts than ever in 2022 – a record 27,000 hours of volunteer time made the last SunFest possible.
“We couldn’t produce our community-oriented festival without dedicated volunteers,” said Jamieson. “They really set us apart from other festivals. And as a nonprofit, our focus on community is a hallmark of our event. SunFest’s mission is to support a variety of quality visual and performing arts, festivals and entertainment events while providing an economic impact to Palm Beach County.”
SunFest volunteer positions will be available for the 2023 festival in January. To pre-register for a volunteer role, visit www.SunFest.com/volunteer.

1909 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the holistic growth of creators in Palm Beach County, offering members access to a one-of-a-kind, collaborative community, workspace, accelerator programs, and mentorship. 1909 was formed in 2018 to build the kind of space and community that the founders—along with fellow Palm Beach County creators and innovators—sought for themselves. Since opening its doors, 1909 has welcomed many creators who have helped lead the organization forward and adapt where needed. We are proud to be creating a more decentralized organization that allows talented people with unique perspectives to shape and contribute to the future for all of us.
