Sunday Funday: Who To See

I cannot believe this is our final day of SunFest 2017! We’re due to have another beautiful day, complete with beautiful sounds. Here’s who you need to hit:

Kicking off the day on the Tire Kingdom Stage is Ambrosia— the California-raised rock band responsible for the hits “How Much I Feel” and “Biggest Part of Me.” It’s hard for me to even grasp that Ambrosia formed in the early 1970s– and have stayed true to their blend of soul, R&B, and rock. Their sound is ageless.

Yesterday, the Tire Kingdom was rocking all day, and that continues with this smooth, legendary act.

Kaleo

Later this afternoon, grab a blueberry pie ice cream cone from the Diner and snag a prime spot by the JetBlue Stage for Iceland’s Kaleo.

This group was just playing the California coast a few days ago during Coachella. Now, they are bringing their irresistible bluesy-rock to SunFest for our final day.

JJ Julius Son, David Antonsson, Daniel Kristjansson, and Rubin Pollock were listed by Rolling Stone as one of 10 new artists to know in 2016. They also swept the recent Icelandic Music Awards– grabbing “Best Prospect,” “Best Album,” “Best Singer,” and “Best Newcomer.”

They have released two studio albums since their 2012 inception and will be loved by fans of Royal Blood, Of Monsters and Men, and The Black Keys.

Wavves

Wavves, a noise rock band from California, will also help us celebrate the sun on this final day of SunFest. The band has been on tour with fellow SunFest artists Blink 182 and The Naked and Famous promoting their sixth full-length album, which is due out in literally a matter of hours. Save the date for May 19.

The band’s album V, released in 2015, is what first caught my attention. The album is said to be inspired by “personal experiences with agoraphobia, sleepwalking, teeth grinding, time wasting, night terrors, toxic relationships, Web MD and [screwing] up while trying to be better people.” V received great praise by critics and fans, and settled permanently into my music collection.

New to their psych-rock? If you’re fan of Cloud Nothings (great, great band), The Orwells, and Best Coast you will love what you’re about to hear!

It’s the final day!! Come out and see us. You’ll find me dancing by the Ford Stage for most of it.
